Might work for ammo and magazines, but CA residents would be screwed because they can't purchase handguns out of state. Most of Arizona's long guns are not legal in CA which I believe prevents us from buy ARs or AKs out of state since CA considers them "assault rifles".
Also wrong section. This goes in the "how CA laws apply to me" section. This isn't litigation. -
Storage units are frequently (and easily) broken in to. I'd never store guns in one, and most have exclusions on storing firearms, which would void most insurance policies.
Huge liability issues, which would make operating costs prohibitive.LASD Retired

This is a great idea, and actually one of the benefits of having a gun trust to control HOW and by WHOM your guns are handled while you are gone (mentally or otherwise) or even while you have capacity but want them held in another state. Of course, these are all transfers that must comply with Title I.David R Duringer JD LL.M (Tax), CA/WA/TX atty

Think along the lines of ABC Secure Document Storage and then what ever comes along with the document for a stand alone building/business.
Think old Bank building OR Jewelry store with 25 HOUR security
TWO security doors to get thru then past security.Comment

i started a thread on this but i was thinking vegas tho, as i go to vegas a few times a year anyway and if the ammo bans pass I plan on making a trip to bulk buy ammo over there. Storage untis can be secure and I am sure there is a monitoring system that can be implimented if someone makes entryComment

I had a storage unit in Arizona one time. I spoke to the people who owned it and they had no problem with firearms and ammunition being stored there. The only thing I had to do was disclose it and sign a waiver and if anything happened and I couldn't retrieve the firearms, they would be turned over to law enforcement. The only problem I would see with it is, as previously mentioned, break ins could be an issue and prolonged exposure to the dry desert heat could adversely affect the firearms.
True, we cannot buy firearms out of state but storing an AR/AK platform rifle minus the bullet button and other california evil features would be no problem.
I would love to be able to store my firearms in a secure facility outside of this prison state. The thought of putting them just out of reach of the gun grabbers delights my soul.Last edited by diverwcw; 05-29-2016, 8:56 AM.sigpic

I'm pretty sure banks don't want handguns stored in their safety deposit boxes. I seem to remember reading that with BoA firearms and cash (why cash?) aren't allowed to be stored in their safety deposit boxes.
I've seen personal storage businesses that specifically prohibit storing firearms and ammunition.Comment

I just don't think the demand is there...at least if you're talking about just firearms. Expand that to any type of valuables and then yea. And I suspect that most of your business would come from businesses rather than private individuals.
Remember too it's more than just security. Ideally it would have to be climate controlled so things don't rust."Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."

If you only knew what kind of monkeys work at the bank's retail, you would never, ever put anything in that deposit box.Comment

guys, if you're seriously considering moving your firearms out of state maybe it's time to start thinking about relocating yourselves out of state
if your convictions are that strong about your feelings toward California, get out, lol, stop giving the State any of your tax dollars to further restrict your freedoms
I know its not feasible for everyone, totally understandable too, making a living for you and your family has to be priority #1
but if the opportunity ever comes your way, get the hell out. How many of you have the 10+ years it may take to see any of your freedoms restored, and, that's one HUGE maybeOriginally posted by BarangI! hate! you! FalconLair.

I've been buying guns in California for over 40 years. The situation in California got bad 20 plus years ago and now there is little hope for gun owners in this state. We have just been left the table scraps. I'm leaving/left (still own a house here) because of many reasons but freedom was one of the big reasons. I had to get to a state that allowed me to feel like I wasn't under the oppression of the government. So yes, my guns are stored in Arizona...and so am I.sigpicComment
