Has any actual person ever been shot with an RIP round? What were the results?

FYI, I've seen all the gel blocks, melons, etc. shot by this stuff on youtube, and I know that about everybody who can spell "RIP' has an opinion on the matter, but I want to know if there are any real world results from using this stuff in whatever caliber..

I would say that the RIP part of RIP ammo would mean that they were probably dead of they were shot by it. Almost like a silver bullet to use against humans.

Just a story, can't verify anything, but a guy I used to know claims he had a DGU with it in 9mm. Someone was trying to steal his motorcycle, and caught the guy in the right shoulder, kind of high, going from back to front. Says it did work as advertised with the breaking apart thing (multiple exits), and made him bleed like crazy, but the altercation ended once the would be thief got hit.

Poor angle and shot placement invalidate the results I suppose, and there's no one to verify this story's details.

I do know that the whole thing *happened* as there was a huge stink about it in my chain of command. Afaik the shooter *was* charged with carrying a concealed weapon w/o permit, and probably something to do with being drunk/prescriptions (I didn't say the guy was smart). I don't think he ever got convicted of anything requiring any kind of time served, because he didn't lose rank nor disappear for any length of time. So despite the lack of details, it was apparently a good shoot and was 9mm RIP.

This is an independent study of various brands of hollow point ammo including G2's RIP in 9mm. It looks like it fares well in penetration but doesn't offer much in expansion as the outer pieces break off instead of mushrooming. The results on the chart look good but I don't think any study has proved whether the design is actually effective. I love the innovation, but for now I'll put my money and my life on something that's more proven.

Actually a few years back there was a coroner on one of the gun lists. He said: Best one-shot stopper was .357 revolver, followed by the .45 ACP. Most body's killed by gunfire were shot with 9mm. Lots and lots of 9mm, average about 5 rounds per corpse. But thats only part of the story..

Few years ago, I was in a bar when a fellow with a box cutter decided to carve up another fellow who had a 9mm. 9mm guy shot boxcutter guy 'till gun was empty, 12-15 rounds, near as I recall. Boxcutter guy showed up back at the bar 3 weeks later, with a lot of bandaids here and there. He'd been hit 8 times by 9mm, FMJ. Which at least it did stop the fight..

OP. Go to your local county fair and buy a pig from a 4H/FFA kid.

Go to town on the pig out in the woods with your RIP ammo and report the results.
