    UZI build ?

Ok I might luck out and end up with a group industries receiver for a Uzi build. My questions is has anyone done one and if so how difficult was it and are there any pointers you can share. Also were can I find 922 compliant parts. Ant tips or info will be greatly appreciated. Now I need to cross fingers and see if the deal comes through.

I think Vector Arms was one of the only sources for US made parts. They are out of the UZI manufacturing business, but you may get luck if you call to see if they have any parts left. I did heard someone was going to step in and produce UZI's again.

I just bought a group industries receiver from a guy on 1919a4, It should make it to my ffl in a few days...

I'm a little excited about this build... there are a couple of challenges...
            1. Cost... The kits are drying up
            2. 922(r) compliance
            3. CA AW compliance

D&D Sales seem to be the best buy $675 for a fully compliant semi kit plus $120 for their weld up kit... you have to call'em for the above pricing.

You can buy a nice FA kit for around $300, but then you need to buy the semi conversion parts, any additional compliance parts, and the weld up kit. I found the semi and compliance parts to run about $450... That's the best price I found, that's selecting components from 3 different sources, plus I would still need the weld up kit...

As stated Uzi Talk is a good place to get started and here is some good reading.

I've got the CA compliance issues licked...

On GB, Vector Arms are now $1500+ while IMI's are $2000+ at those price levels a self build is almost justified... with tools and ability...

            oh this...
            It's a Single Cylinder - Single Stroke,
            Internal Combustion Engine,
            with a Free Floating Piston...

Really, before the election they were going for an average of $750ish.

Apparently no one knew vector was out of buisness...

when everyone ran out to buy an uzi after the election the market dried up overnight.... no one is importing or manufacturing any new guns...

stripped receivers went from 19.99 each, to 25 each, to 60 each, to 200+ each now...

the $60 price was a week before the election, the 200+ price is now.

Uzi's are one area where supply will have a very hard time meeting demand.

Well I am just an idiot for not buying one I guess. Well there goes that idea of wanting one.

There's a huge demand. Someone will probably step in to take over building them.....I hope.

As near as I can tell, the uncertain political future has everyone affraid to invest capital in tooling up for production...

My understanding was that bobcat/cohaire was purchasing the parts/tooling from vector and was going to go into buisness making Uzi's but the whole political thing stalled them out a bit.
