    LMT uppers, any users here?

So ive been looking at a few uppers for my next pistol build and im going towards LMT (CQB MRP) or a DDMK18 upper. I have experience with the Daniel Defense but I dont think ive ever even seen any LMT products in person. I hear they are great quality but I dont see many people running LMTs. Any reason for this? If anyone has first hand experience, pkease chime in. This is kind of what im going for just in pistol form.

LMT guns are top notch. And they do certain things differently such as 45 degree gas ports, and other things. Also, if you plan on running NV later, the monolithic upper is a ridiculously stiff platform to mount lasers on. I like the LMT stuff. They exude all-business. I dont own an LMT upper, however i have shot them. I do have a complete LMT lower i will eventually get the longer rifle-length upper for.

I've owned and ran a 14.5 lmt upper on my m4 style since about 2010 and honestly I don't think I have ever had a failure. Ever. I've ran over a thousand rounds through it. I don't baby it, minimal cleaning, I think I was using motor oil for lube for awhile actually...

Not just there 5.56, I've also owned a lmt mws, beautiful rifle, their quality is top notch.

I would look at 10.5 carbine length gas system for an ar pistol, I've had great luck with that combo and a noveske flaming pig kx3 compensator, smooth running

I have a LMT MRP upper in DI and Piston with the 16" (?) barrel. I personally don't see the need for going to the Piston system for my own needs. In fact, using the Piston system caused carrier tilt which marred up my buffer tube.

The only bad things I can say about the LMT system are:
          (1) The price.
          (2) There are two tabs under the upper which makes assembling the upper and lower together more difficult than necessary, but the tabs can be filed away (I removed mine).
          (3) Being stuck with the Picatinny quad-rail makes the upper heavier.

The good things I like about the MRP system are:
          (1) Removable barrel makes cleaning a breeze.
          (2) Monolithic upper is pretty darn stiff.

All in all, I like my LMT MRP DI upper a lot and I don't think you can go wrong getting one.

I do not own a LMT upper or a DD upper either. Mainly because I can not justify the price they sell for.
Always wondered what can be so good about these uppers that sell for more than $1000 compared to an upper from PSA that sells for $250 or so. Are LMT and DD four times more Mil Spec than PSA uppers?

I picked up a 14.5 LMT about 5 years ago from Bravo Company. A stripped assembly. Bought a KAC rail and LMT BCG shortly after. It has run flawless.

I would argue that you are paying for quality control. Sure a lmt or Daniel defense can have problems, but the chances you will have a failure occur are far less. Not to say that they are perfect, but I would think it's safe to assume the quality control inspection process from the factory is better. Your also paying for the brand and rollmark, which I do think is a bit overpriced.
