Great get together at Chabot today.

Nice day out, spent 5 hours at Chabot and met a whole lot of guys. Not only did I get to shoot my SKS (Which I'm getting better at, even managed to hit right on the bullseye on one of my first shots), but I got to shoot Ivanimal's Mauser, Mosin Nagant, AR-15, Daewoo, .22 wheelgun, Taurus version of the Beretta 92sf, and Glock 17. Also got to shoot Megavolt 121's USP and M. Sage's Mosin Nagant and Marlin .22. I'm getting a lot better at shooting, now I'm just killing the black with both my SKS and the .22 compared to how I was shooting as if I were in a drunken stupor (Who am I kidding? I probably was in a drunken stupor) on my first day at Metcalf.

Just some important notes on today's day out. Ivanimal, defend that Daewoo with your life, I'd probably try to steal it from you if I weren't such a great guy . Thanks to Megavolt and Ivanimal for helping me with the pistols, and I'd have tried out your muzzle loader and slugs but my shoulder would probably be still hurting because I've got the imprints of several buttplates on my shoulder. (That turkish load is /HOT/) And M. Sage. Dude, the UN is going to charge you for war crimes after that paper genocide you committed. Jeez, what'd you do to cause the paper to just flap down after being riddled with 7.62X54R? Heh, my dad and I must've blown through two and a half boxes of .22 through your Marlin, hes really interested in buying one for himself right now.

I met a couple of other Calgunners to, so for any of you out there, that 5'11" asian kid dressed entirely in black nike clothing was the Soup Nazi in person if you didn't happen to approach me. Got several red marks on me shoulder right now, brought home a casing or two of every caliber I fired as a souvenir, and right now I've got the SKS all cleaned up just waiting for my dad to come home with a bigger pin punch so we can finally knock the firing pin out of it. Until next time I guess, it was great meeting everyone.

I was planning on going but I've been laying low and recovering from a kidney stone Anyone get any pics?
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

Don't know if anyone got pictures, but I could always see if I can find my damn digital camera and take a picture comparing my first day of shooting target with my two targets from today. There'll always be next time.

Rofl, you know, once the range officer left things started to fall apart a little when things got busy. I bet I probably could've gotten away with running up the range and stabbing my target and no one would be the wiser. "Yeah, I loaded one of those blade shaped rounds into my SKS."

Does Chabot still limit SKS's to two rounds in the mag?

Yeah, Megavolt really didn't give a damn about rapid fire and he didn't get yelled at somehow. Really sparked my interest in a Taurus PT92 right now though. And I don't know, but my dad and I still followed the rule. Though I haven't actually seen a slam fire yet. Fortunately the firing pin was clean to begin with.

I was there too - got to hit this board more often - didn't even know it was planned!

Got to shoot the Daewoo - that thing rocks.

I was the guy wearing the IDF t-shirt and shooting from the prone position on lane 41.

I "settled" for shooting my AR - but I really wanted to shoot my Mauser. However, I've shot about 300 rounds of Turk ammo through it and cracked the stock.

                    ;-)

Well I finally settled in for the nite. These are my reflections.

As expected Soup is an intelligent well mannered representative of what we like to see in a gun enthusiast. His dad is for sure the reason why. I will be seeing you both again.

Oaklander you were also a gentleman and I am glad you took me up on the offer to shoot my fully registered Daewoo.

My son Joey has not stopped talking about the trip. He is now at an age that I feel good letting him handle firearms with respect. It was great to see him shoot the black powder rifle and I had a blast watching Soup and Joey at the pistol line going between the P22, S and W airweight 22 and the Glock 19 and the Taurus 9mm. I was busy trying out my new fiveseven. I think I need an IOM to go with my USG. Thanks Rips!

All in all we went through 700 rounds of rifle ammo and 400 rounds of pistol ammo. All that in 3 hours.

No rapid fire on lane 61, yes CG the apple does not fall too far from the tree.

If anyone asks, there were four of us all shooting simultaneously, not one of me...

Megavolt rapid firing the the .22 doesn't count I think.

By the way, I was the guy with the M1A out there, and yes I decided to finally join the forums.
