    DROS forms

What do you do with the DROS forms that FFLs give you? Are we supposed to retain those and keep a record of all the guns we bought?

The only time this would come in useful that I can think of is when your firearms get stolen and you have to do a police report.

I usually just put mine somewhere and then I lose them and I say oh well.
    YMMV.

Doesn't take much effort to file them.

I have started scanning them and keeping them in the cloud, I don't have most of the ones I have gotten but as I get more organized in my old age, I am scanning more and more documents.

This! No foreseeable need to keep them, I have enough paperwork to file and keep track of... Let the doj keep ownership files... Hopefully they'll forget that I own some...

Legally, it's the same as any other receipt.
There is no requirement to keep them.

It is a good idea, same as any other receipt for a major purchase.
I keep them in a manila envelope in the safe with my family paperwork.
It provides proof that you are the owner if a gun is stolen and recovered, and it has the serial number and all information needed to report the gun stolen.

                  Not that organized?

This is the way to do it. ^^^

And, if you did that, you will not be posting on Calgun in the near future about a gun of yours that was lost, stolen, or what ever and you need to trace it but have no clues about the model number, serial number, and where you bought the gun.

What do you do with the receipt when you buy a big screen TV for 2K? Treat your Dros paper the same.

I would advise keeping copies of any and all records regarding firearms that have ever been submitted to any governmental agency. Not only as mentioned by some above to establish ownership, but also to know which firearms you may own that the government does NOT know you own or possess. It is very difficult to confiscate something that an offending party (government in this case) has no knowledge of the existence of.

That's actually a good suggestion I'll throw my last 3 buys in thier boxes. Cause I'm surprised I'm even keeping my scars box and my mossberg boxes. Which reminds me I'm going to email FN and ask for some stickers or something for buying a scar and only getting a stinking cardboard box

I have a notebook that all paperwork and receipts go in, plus I keep a spreadsheet that has serial numbers, description, and date purchased.
