    laser bore sight question

have anybody used them before?? i was just curious if they are worth the money. if they are, what would you recommend? i'm looking for something that is kinda universal. i have a 30-06 and 223 i wouldn't mind using.

i have no problems sighting it in myself, but thought the laser bore sight will save me some time.

    what are your thoughts??

I never liked them. Freinds bought them but they stopped using them. Only takes me about 5-6 shots and a couple min to get my zero at 100 yards. Once you get used to it its like riding a bike. You don't have to think about it much. I say save your money.

What I do is fire into dirt from sandbags. I then position the gun sights right back to my point of aim and move the sights (without moving the gun) to where the bullet hit the dirt. Then I fire one more shot at the dirt to make sure I'm within a 3-6 inches. Now I'm close enough for paper. Fire one shot at the paper target and adjust sights. Keep this up until you are just about dead center and then fire a group of three and if they are all around your point of aim then you are done. Thats was easy and only cost a few cents worth of bullets. I have been doing that same method for years and not once has the thought about buying one of those lasers come to my head.

With my AR's I just take the upper and set it in my rifle cleaning vice and then point the thing at a distant street light. I peer though the barrel until the light is centered. Then adjust the sights to match. That get's in on paper on the first shot and with in a few inches of zero. Three to five shots later and I'm happy enough.

I have never found one that was worth purchasing.
