    I respect the anti gunners

When I face a anti gunner, I tread lightly, because I know they are willing to go above and beyond to get what they want, including civil disobedience, breaking the law, and illicit means, unlike us gun owners. They also control popular opinion and the media and most institutions, and they can destroy your lives in a second whenever they please.

I no longer look at them as weak cowardly whiners, I genuinely fear them now as a formidible enemy.

For I long time I held the same opinion. My opinion has changed over time because I have learned that most antis I have encountered live in fear of me just because I do not fear guns. I have heard so many antis claim they would not trust themselves with a gun. If they had it and got angry with someone they fear they would use it against that person.

I get angry at people all the time and have not used my gun to harm them. It must mean I have better self-control than they do. Their rants are just their projecting their fears onto us law abiding gun owners.

Since I stopped living in fear and hiding my enjoyment of shooting and enjoyment I obtain from seeing the beauty in the form of a well built lever gun or a well built revolver, I feel free. I keep hearing that they can destroy my life in seconds. I actually had a principal of my school attempt to do that by claiming I made threats against her and the school after she learned I was a gun owner and she was definitely an anti. She thought she could get me held on a 5150 and learned the hard way it took much more than her say so. Because she had no corroborating evidence, she was fired to settle my lawsuit.

I have also come to believe that the majority of the antis depend upon us law abiding gun people to remain just that, law abiding. They will keep passing laws and we keep abiding by them and will not engage in civil disobedience. We will not break the laws when they become so repressive that they have crossed the line to become unconstitutional. (I believe they already have in CA).

They are cowardly whiners that will never be happy. No matter what they get, they still whine and demand more. They have learned that as long as they are whinny and annoying, people will make compromises with them.

Stop compromising and ignore them. In fact, undo all the compromises with that attitude that we negotiated these compromises in good faith and you still are not happy and want more. You have proven you want a total ban rather than a reasonable compromise. It is time to go back to the beginning. What part of shall not be infringed do you not understand?

I used to accept all sorts of mental gymnastics to accept the 2A and reasonable restrictions on gun ownership. A few years ago, when reading it again, I realized, no mental gymnastics could blunt the meaning of shall not be infringed. Any type of control is infringement, that is the definition of infringement.

I am willing to say that the new proposals being considered for CA are definitely crossing the threshold were civil disobedience is more than an appropriate response. The laws are so unjust that they are unconstitutional that they can be ignored. But that is an opinion and those willing to act on it must also be willing to accept the risk associated with those acts. Just because you call it a protest does not mean you are immune to the consequences.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

No, you're wrong. Don't take my word for it. Google is right there, waiting for you. You're in for a very unpleasant surprise; sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I find it ironic the same people proposing the gun control laws claim it is to protect those people who are most affected by gun violence and have the greatest need for access to guns for self-defense.

The poor people living in the inner cities of Chicago, Oakland, Detroit, etc.

Another reason to have nothing but utter contempt for the antis.

Nuts. The definition of infringe has not changed and means exactly what it has always meant. Here is your unpleasant surprise.

Merriam-Webster simple definition from the web:

1: to do something that does not obey or follow (a rule, law, etc.) ( chiefly US )

2: to wrongly limit or restrict (something, such as another person's rights)

                    Synonym Discussion of infringe

trespass, encroach, infringe, invade mean to make inroads upon the property, territory, or rights of another. trespass implies an unwarranted or unlawful intrusion <hunters trespassing on farmland>. encroach suggests gradual or stealthy entrance upon another's territory or usurpation of another's rights or possessions <the encroaching settlers displacing the native peoples>. infringe implies an encroachment clearly violating a right or prerogative <infringing a copyright>. invade implies a hostile and injurious entry into the territory or sphere of another <accused of invading their privacy>.

                      Terrific! Well written and inspiring.

OP, I don't fear the antis, but I am careful with those rabid antis that have the illegitimate power given to them by the ridiculous laws in California. I simply go about my business. In a debate, I am fearless and grounded in my arguments. I do not cower or re-treat, and I feel fully justified by history and the Constitution.

The culture today is up side down and backwards, but I don't fear the antis.

there is a mix. Some are hardcore and efficient. Some show up at protests because they're social event. Both; its part of left wing culture to show up and do political things. Its not for the other side. We used to do community and family things.... and join the mil if need be... as our way of doing collective things. But; it seems community, family, and country are breaking down (thanks to the left) so now a lot of non lefties just don't do anything (probably the goal; isolate so as to make ineffective).

Putting politics in an important part of ones life seems distasteful to me but I think we need to adapt to the times or get rolled... We'll cease to exist as a cultural force if we don't change...
