    Anti-Gun Priest

Watching CBS Sunday Morning they did a store on an anti-gun priest. During the interview he said "maybe it's God's will that you die during an armed confrontation".

I guess we should just leave our safety in the hands of the lord.

Well someone should have asked if it was God's will that children should have been molested by priest's? I guess it's a good thing that God gave us free will to decide our own fate. I hate to break it down to a good vs. evil analogy but at some point good has to fight or evil wins.

I mean, what if it was God's will that that scumbag thief/rapist/miscreant was supposed to die that day, and I forgot to bring my gun? Would God be pissed at me??

Do people even think about what they are saying anymore? Have we as a people become so enamored of the sound bite that we don't analyze simple words?

                Pure foolishness.

On the other hand it would be God's will too if you pull out a .45 and blasted the perp.

I'll take freewill and volition over such blasphemy any day of the week and especially TWICE on Sunday.

By that logic nobody should use a seatbelt, own a fire extinguisher, or have a hospital. God would heal you if he didn't want you to have that broken leg or failing kidney, right?

Yep. Reminds me of the arabic "inshallah" which pretty much translates to just roll over and accept whatever lot life has given you. I can't disagree with that mentality strong enough.

And this is not just a muslim concept, inshallah is just a great example of it

Maybe it is, or maybe it's God's will the other guy dies in an armed confrontation. Who am I to be unarmed, if it's God's will that the other guy dies? I'll go ahead and carry a gun, and if God decides to take me, I'll go on to my heavenly reward, but I pray my aim is true, and my heart is strong, and I protect my loved ones if called to do so.
