Ppt off roster gun

Need some clarification on a ppt.

I have an off roster gun I want to transfer into my name. My friend is an LEO and has a handgun he will sell me.

When I go to the ffl I know we both need to be present. Is a receipt for the purchase needed or is that handled between both parties and the ffl only needs the handgun?

no receipt required, the FFL doesn't need to know anything more than who is the buyer and who is the seller.

No receipt needed as your price is negotiated and paid between you two. You shouldn't even be asked nor have it come up. In fact, many LGS don't want you to do the money exchange in their stores.
