Semi to Bolt action ?

I have a question. What would one have to do to make a semi auto rifle into a single shot bolt action rifle that would meet the new proposed law but still let me use my magazines ?

How permanent does the work have to be. I know this is an interesting question to all of you. I just don't want to register any more rifles.

Which semi auto ?
AR, block the gas port in the gas block. Remove the gas tube.
Europe they call them straight pull AR.

Since you want to use a magazine, it would be considered a repeating rifle not a single shot.

I've thought about replacing my upper receiver with a side charging model to allow for a more natural handling of the "straight pull AR" but the cost for these seem really high... For example, the Gibbz Arms G4 Side Charging Upper looks sweet but $250 plust tax/shipping for an upper that normally costs $75 seems crazy expensive...

I also wonder just how far the State will push it even if you block the gas port and remove the gas tube... Would you still need the fixed stock and no pistol grip?
