    Mossberg & Smart Guns

    From Today's LA Daily News:

Is it time to boycott Mossberg? How long can they stay in business if no one buys their firearms?

James Bond meets Samuel Colt: Seeking to build a safer gun

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. >> Jonathan Mossberg is among a small number of pioneers looking to build a safer gun. But unlike many others, he was in the gun business when he started down that path. His family is renowned for its premier line…

It's pointless. 5 minutes after it hits the shelves some script-kiddie will upload a crack on Pirate Bay.

LOL...you are about 3 years late in calling for a boycott.

It's not the gun company Mossberg, it's just this one guy who left Mossberg back in 2000. I hate to give MJ credit, but the article Mitch linked to explains some of this.

Both articles, either deliberately or ignorantly, once again mis-state the biggest problem that gun owners have with smart guns: A goverment mandate. Smart guns being on the open market isn't the issue, it's having them being required by law that's the problem.
I meant, it is my opinion that...

Wow, what a good idea. Maybe we all need an RFID chip implanted on our foreheads so our smart guns would recognize us. The chip should have the numbers "666" on it.

I have no desire to own a "smart gun." But it's a free country. Maybe some people want them. Moreover, any company that thinks there is a market for them and wants to produce them, should have the right to...just as long as their position is one of it being an option and not making them mandatory.

You can bet I won't be buying one. But I'll continue to shop your company (assuming you have something I want) until you cross the line. Then I will press for the obliteration of your company from this earth. I think most companies know they had better tread very lightly in this arena. The gun community will deal with those that don't and set them straight.

                        Mossberg's "premium" line of shotguns?

Won't buy Mossberg- a stupid move like S&W did years ago and cost them major dollars and customer good will.

Before you guys get out the pitchforks, try to understand this guy has not had any connection with OF Mossberg for the last 15 years.
