What is the worst piece of advice you received from a gun store clerk?

I recently had a store clerk advocate the use of a 5 shot .357 snub nose revolver as a primary home defense weapon.

    What are your stories?

"Don't shoot green tip ammo in front of cops because its armor piercing and you could get arrested for it". Overheard them telling someone. Sooo much FUD. Also that it's illegal to use 30 rnd mags, and that featureless doesn't exist.

Snub .357 is no good for home defense..? Are we expecting a BLM militia or something?

"If your gun is legal you cannot be arrested for it" not quite true.

I never ask advice from gun store clerks.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

I didn't say it was no good for HD just that there are probably some better choices than a gun that is meant primarily for concealed carry.

I see where a a 4" barrel might better choice but hardly the worst advice out there. clerk could could have suggested way worse.

.357 with 3" barrel is just about the closest to 1 shot 1 kill you can get in a ccw weapon.
