Are you sure you aren't talking about OLL: Off-List Lower?

-
Dunno.
Perhaps OLL? That's 'Off List Lower' - a centerfire rifle not listed in the 'assault weapon' law.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page
Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!Comment

Welcome to CGN, just messing with you, use it in the context that you are questioning. If you are mistaken and it is OLL then refer to Librarian above.
Hope this helps.Comment

here was the original context in a post on the Angeles Shooting Range.
I went into the shop, got my targets, bought a few boxes of ammo and grabbed my bench! I had my .30 Carbine, my Ruger M77 .308 and my Garand. I was considering bringing my BWK-92 but since the lady I talked to on the phone didn't know what an OLL was (even when I told her what the acronym stood for ) I didn't feel comfortable bringing it.
so, I should have written, as many inferred, OLL -- "off list lower" I assume that means the lower part of an M16 (AR 15). It is actually a legal term, I see. I don't recall what we called this back in the day, I seem to recall just "receiver". But it was a long time ago.Comment

California has a list of lower receivers that are banned by name (see "The 3 categories of an assault weapon in CA" and Appendixes A-C on the flowchart). Those receivers are thus on the list.
Therefore, in order to be legally owned in California (excepting those which were registered as assault weapons prior to the Y2K deadline), a given lower must be off the list ... and so, "off-list lower." It refers to the AW law, though it's technically not a legal term..Comment
