    Doms Outdoors in Livermore

I went here for a purchase yesterday. The gun prices were really good, they had a lot of inventory, and there was no attitude at all. It reminded me of a huge surplus store in the nineteen-seventies. It was very cool and kind of off the radar. I recommend it if you're looking for a hunting rifle or maybe a Sig or 1911. Cool place and a lot of stuff You would never find at Dick's Sporting Goods or Big 5.

I've always liked Dom's it has been in Livermore forever. In the seventies it had a LOT of real army surplus stuff. In fact, I think it was called Dom's Surplus. They carry camping stuff, some surplus stuff, knives, guns, ammo, outdoor clothes, work cloths, outdoor shoes boots and sandals, quality hats, rope, foam, backpacks, all kinds of stuff. Fun store to browse around in and they have stuff you cannot get at other outdoor stores.

      Fun store.
sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

Kind of spoiled here in Livermore. 3 good gun stores. Each a little different.

Doms is also supportive of the local gun range.

I got a great impression of Dom's on my first visit. Nice selection, friendly staff, nice selection of firearms and high end knives.

I miss the old store. As a kid it was always fun to search the bins and back corners of the store for all kinds of treasures. The had all kinds of surplus stuff in the 70's.

Thanks for the tip OP, I'm in Livermore a lot and only ever knew of JR Sports. They're okay but I'd love to swing by Dom's and check them out.

My only complaint is that the gun selection at Doms isn't very big. But, I understand that they're a sporting goods store and not just a gun shop. I always have a hard time getting out of there in less than an hour no matter what I'm actually shopping for.

Solar Tactical is also in Livermore. Great shop, with a big selection of guns.

I reccomend bypassing Solar Tactical and going straight to Tracy Rifle. Prices are way better and much less attitude from the employees.

Polish Mike runs great shops, no doubt about that. But it's odd to hear that people get attitude at Solar. I've been going there for years and never had a bad experience, and I'm not some big spender who has bought their "respect". *shrug* to each their own.

Dom's expanded the pistol and rifle section several months back, doubling the display space. I was in there last week and their two display cases were packed with pistols and there were lots of rifles.

I was also in Tracy Rifle and Pistol last week and their display cases were practically empty. I was told that their distributers are out of most California legal handguns. I didn't ask how other stores seemed to have a large supply of firearms on display.

Solar Tactical often has items the other stores don't have. However, their prices often reflect that as well. They had a rifle I was interested in, but I refused to pay $200 over MSRP. When I questioned the price, I was told that nobody else has them so if I really want one I would have to pay their price.

youve mentioned this before in other threads but never explained much... +1 for never having any issues with Solar. I always get respect and good service.

Bought my M1A Loaded and Springfield Mil Spec from Dom's. Got a discount for buying both at the same time. Also bought a Stoeger over/under Competition. Great home town type store.

Bought two fire arms from Solar, no issues. Bought a few more from J&R, they had attitude when the owner Randy was running it.
