New scope hunting rifle scope.

I am looking at possibly getting a new scope for my Tikka T3 hunting rifle.
It currently has a Leupold VXI 3-9X40 on it.
Does anyone here have any experience looking through the new Leupold VX3i product line?
I think the 3.5-10X40 would be the perfect scope for hunting here in Alabama and most everywhere.

I think that you're not going to notice much difference. The only thing that it seems to give you in the finger adjustable elevation turret which isn't a lot of use on a big game scope.

If you're sighting in low light, you'll need appropriate glass for that. Something on the order of 50mm or better objectives. Just be aware that big glass is more expensive than 40, 42 or 44 mm glass.

A scope gathers no light it only transmits it. A VX3 is world's apart from a VX1.

I'm betting that the few seconds of difference in fading light would be hard to notice.

Step up to a larger objective lens if your under 30 years old and can use the larger exit pupil diameter. But if you're older, your eyes won't be able to see the difference.

Another message board conversation mentioned that the new VX1 is the equivalent of the old VX2. The Rifleman scope is equal to the old VX1. I put a VX1 on my Tikka T3 in 6.5 x 55. It is a really nice scope. I really do like this combo. I have a couple different Vortex Scopes. They might be the best buy for your dollar.

Another scope that has peaked my interest is the Vortex Viper hs 2.5-10x44.
This is a 30MM tube that should help with brightness.

Forget the 50mm lens and 30mm tube. You gain nothing useful in a hunting scope. 30mm tube does not make it brighter only gives you more elevation adjustment for shooting 1000 yards and such. 50mm lens does not gather anymore light since lens do not gather light only transmit light and how well they do that depends on lens quality, lens coatings, scope assembly and such.
The 3.5X10X40 VX3i with duplex reticle and non-adj OB will work just great.
Exchanged my old Varri-X III for one and it is really nice.
If you cannot see the animal in the scope then it is too late to be shooting or just get IR equipment.

Does anyone have any experience with that scope?

Why the CDS turrets over the normal turrets?

What type of hunting situations do "you" use actually use the turrets often?
What ranges are "you" shooting at/killing game at?
