Gun Prices Thru The Roof !!!

Have you noticed the crazy prices used guns are going for today !!!

People really think they can ask excessively high prices... But funny how after thousands of views those same guns still remain for sale.

California has us hostage !! They don't need to impose any further gun control...we are doing it for them. Prices are very restrictive.

    Just some thoughts.

Ive been wondering about some ads myself. A lot of sellers want almost equal to a slight premium over new for used guns. Some upharge for their original DROS expense.

Ive bought used sports gear a lot, including collectibles.

I personally think that unless its collectible or rare, not having the original warranty already and buying via PPT are both real negatives, and I am not motivated to purchase unless a reasonably lower price is availalble.

Case in point, I saw an unfired rifle available for sale in the ads. The seller wanted 475. I could buy the same gun available for 499 new plus DROS. I fired off a a bid of 375, with an outlook looking to negotiate to 400-425. No go. My time alone isnt just worth 25 bucks. I turned around and bought new.

To the OP, the good deals go fast. We may be just late to the games.

Been that way for a few years now. Good deals can still be found, but they're few and far between.
I understand that there is a premium that will be paid when someone like myself (non roster exempt) can't just go and buy any pistol that I want NIB from a store, but when I saw Sig Legions and VP9's selling for double their retail, I pretty much stopped looking all together.

They are only high prices if you are stupid enough to pay the inflated price and if you do you are no different than the sellers.

What is a good baseline for used gun pricing? Honest question.

I normally use 80% of brand new MSRP when selling a relatively easy gun to acquire (i.e., the ones that you can buy brand new without going through hoops and long waits). What do you guys do?

For used guns that are discontinued, (i.e., pre-lock Smith) or for off-roster (i.e., SP01 Tactical) or for hard to acquire ones (i.e., Springfield Professional), pricing them is tough. What do you guys do? Of course you would want to net the most dollars, right?

Google "supply and demand" and then buy what you can afford.. Complaining about a free market makes you sound like a Sanders supporter. lol

Supply and demand is hardly reflected on secondary market gun prices. Actual transactions are. Read more

I'd priced them based on the demand. Honest answer. The thing is that there are so many platforms out there the demand is unpredictable.

Very true. Thanks for your thoughts.

Since demand is somewhat unpredictable, the pricing can be all over the place then, including "above" MSRP on some. Or maybe that's an initial asking price to yield the most dollars.

                          General comment:

Also, pricing is dependent on location. Not all stores follow MSRP. Some sell for below, while some for above. So in this case, what is deemed as overpriced by some may not really be overpriced depending on location. After all, we have a choice on where to buy and "overpriced" is all relative.

They can ask for however much they want.
