My Kahr 380 is a pocket and in the bad guy's belly gun. As is the bullet is pretty anemic so why?

Instead of very-very-poor ballistic performance out of a handgun it's only very-poor out of a carbine.
Since it's just a plinking gun why not just get a 10/22?

Will a .380 even make it 200 yds without having to "howitzer" it in??
