How many rounds do you take to the range ?

So i have been checking out the marketplace and looking at some guns for a possible PPT and just some general calguns lurking and have noticed some people have VERY low round counts through their guns. Sometimes as low as 30 or 50, and some guns they have had for years with 500 rounds through them. im not talking about collectibles either, so it got me thinking. how much ammo do you take with you to the range ?

i usually go to the range with my brother and maybe a friend or two and we take a minimum of two hundred rounds of each caliber we are shooting sometimes more. Even if i go alone i will usually shoot atleast 100 through each gun.

How much do you guys take with you ?

Last visit I took 200 5.56, 200 7.62x51, and 500 .22. I brought back 200 of the .22, 60 of the .223, and 40 of the .308. We ran out of time at the range. I am sure we would have gone home empty if the range did not close.

A public range, i bring about 200 rounds per semi auto, 100 for revolvers, maybe 50 for bolt action, but i bring no more than 4 or 5 guns. Ranges have too many damn rule, it makes it difficult to enjoy shooting.

If I bring it I shoot it. So I just bring 250 per gun now, 22 I'll bring at least 500

                It depends.
I bought an LCR for my wife.
                She hated it.
                I hated it.
I PPTd it to a friend. It didn't have more than 100 rounds through it. She shot one cylinder, I put the rest of the box of 50 through it and didn't want to shoot it anymore. Took it to the desert and my buddy and I put another box through it and he offered to buy it.

My Carry guns? 100-200 per trip, depending on the goal. New gun that I'm just trying to break in, 200. Working on accuracy and handling, 50-100 (per gun). Much more than that and it starts to get counterproductive unless I'm having a really good day.

Ya... I have a hard time believing some of the round counts given that I have well over 1,000 through my Shield that I haven't even had for a year yet.
OTOH, some people aren't "shooters"... they are "owners" or collectors.

I bring 50 rounds per gun each time I go to the range, but I go 2 or 3 times a week. Usually take my Glock 19 and 1911 out together, then the next time my AR and one of the pistols.

I'd guess they're selling the guns they don't shoot often, and that's "why" they're for sale.

I keep log books on each of my guns so I know the precise round count. I'll put 100 through each of my 9mm's at least, and 50 or so through my J frame each time I go.

It depends on the guns I bring:
for the mosin 40 is a good number
9mm I usually bring 200 to split between a handguns or between one and the 9mm carbine
                      5.56/.223 or 7.6x39 usually anywhere from 120 to 150
12ga for shooting clays just a 100 round bulk pack of birdshot
12 ga slugs and or bucks 30 to 50 is the usual number
Anytime I borrow one of pops handguns I usually buy 100 rounds for it.

My trick is for the magazine fed firearms I only load 5 rounds at a time to make the ammo last longer.

It is very dependent on the individual. Take me for example, I shoot mostly trap so my clay shooting shotgun will see lots of rounds through it each year. I shoot 2 to 3 times a week and each time between 100 to 150 rounds through it.

My pistols and AR-15 on the other hand, don't see much use. I have one Colt Lightweight Officer 1911 which I think I've shot less than 100 rounds through it since I bought it from my colleague.

Assuming the seller is honest, it is quite possible that those guns have very low round count because the owner don't use it much, hence the desire to sell it and get something else.

I do not count my ammo. Sometimes I can count what I shoot thru each firearm if I wanted to. This would be when load testing and writing down the FPS of each then the final data after 5 rounds of each load.

When I shoot just for fun I just take a bunch(200+) per firearm and return with what ever I did not shoot. Many times I take a 50bmg ammo box full to start with. Lately I have been trying to use 30cal cans as they are easier on my back/knees/wrists and such
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I dont go to the range . I go to BLM . since I dont get out often , I take just about everything I own out there if I do and shoot maybe +/- 100 depending on caliber . I think thats why some of mine has low round count even tho I owned for while . I think if I do hit up indoor , I prolly go through more counts since there's nothing to do other just shoot shoot shoot
