    CO2 Pistols

I was in Big 5 the other day and noticed they had a pretty big selection of realistic looking BB/Pellet pistols. I think they had at least 10 different models, including a Berretta, Glock, even a huge Desert Eagle. Anyone have one of these? Are they fun to shoot? I was thinking about getting a few pellet trap targets and shooting them in the garage. I have a 2 car tandem garage with an extra 6 feet or so at the end for storage so it is pretty deep. Then again, if shooting a BB gun in the garage is illegal, I won't be doing it I still want one though because they look sweeet.

I have one that I shoot in my garage. It is something to help pass the time while I am out there having a cigarette.

I have a Crosman and a Gamo airgun. The Gamo is a much more solid gun, but the Crosman uses an 8 pellet 'magazine', and is more fun to shoot. I shoot it in the garage when either it's too wet to go to the range, or I don't have the time.

Getting an airgun in the same style as a real firearm you may own, such as the Beretta or the M&P, can help with drills, such as drawing from a holster. Of course, you can do those drills with dry firing, but with an airgun you can see if you're really hitting what you think you're aiming at.

That's what I was thinking. What is the FPS on your guns? It looks like the ones in Big 5 ranged from 300ish up to 425 for the Desert Eagle.

you were looking at the cheap selection of "soft-air" guns weren't you?

avoid those like the plague. Get something with quality, like a KWA M9 PTP

I'm pretty sure I was looking at actual BB guns.

not at 300-400fps, that's pretty slow for a crosman or gamo

IIRC mine is shooting at 400 fps.

I have the Crosman-made Walther CP-99 CO2 with 19rd BB magazine. An impulse buy at Big 5 a couple of years back. 50 bucks on sale. Shoots those copper-plated metal BBs out as fast as you can squeeze the trigger. They're fun for plinking at a telephone book in the garage.

Seems like a rubber seal or O-ring has gone on mine. The CO2 cartridge empties out after firing the first round. My guess is you're not meant to leave them loaded with a gas cartridge installed for extended periods of time.

Life can make you do many things, even kiss a man with a runny nose.

I have an old RWS 225 that fits in my Sig 229 holster and is quiet enough for practice in the garage. I haven't looked into the legality of shooting an airgun in the city limits, but with a large church and lots of traffic across the street, I always make sure the garage door is closed.

I'm always worried about the gas seals on these things, as thaiboy has shared. I've got an older Crosman that just won't hold CO2 any more, it'll work for a session but try leaving it overnight, forget it. I'm hesitant to invest / spend $50+ in a higher priced CO2 gun only to have it bleed out.

Anyone have one for longer than a year and still happy?

with the cost of ammo now days, i think everyone should have at least one airsoft and pellet gun in the collection.

it is good training and fun without spending a load of money

as for seals on co2 guns. most valves rely on an O ring seal, usually cheap foreign rubber. these are the cause of most seal problems because the O rings can crack or tear. usually its because of temperature or chemicals coming into contact with the Seals and damaging them. so keep em lubed, with a silicone friendly non-petroleum based lubricant, and keep them maintained, used every few months or so. you do this and your gun will last alot longer.

Large selection of replacement water filters, reverse osmosis membranes, water testing kits and water filtration repair parts. From one water filter or reverse osmosis membrane to case quantity discounts of water filters and reverse osmosis membranes. Low prices and fast shipping since 1999.

you can additionally replace the valve O rings with buna or viton type, which are nearly impervious to temp and chemicals.
