    Scratches on receivers and slides

I recently saw a video on Youtube where a guy used some sort of oil solution and an abrasive material like steel wool or something, and it took the scratches and dings right out of the receiver. Does anyone know what products or items to get for optimum scratch and gouge removal? Also, I am getting brass streaks on the right side of my AR receiver, right in front of the forward assist housing next to the ejection port-from expended brass. And ideas on how to get that off of my receiver?

Ask the guy that made the YouTube video?
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

I soak mine in hoppes for a bit and use a felt rag to buff it off. Most of it comes off pretty easy.

I watch countless gun videos daily. Believe me I tried finding it.
Felt rag sounds like a good idea. Maybe a mineral solution?

Have you tried wiping it off with your finger?

It wont come off with finger. BAllistol and a nylon brush took it off tho.

See this where I done the 1911 and there were about 10 more scratches that you can't see in the pic ..

Just use a copper solvent and a rag. Maybe just an Eraser will work. Problem is that its gonna come back unless you put something like Velcro on it. If you do use Velcro, forget about removing it and just tape over the top of it.

How about you don't shoot your rifle and you won't get brass marks.

That would be the equivalent of telling a teenager that just hit puberty to stop checking out the hot girl in line at Vons.

Or a girl complaining about getting her period... brass marks happen. Just shoot the gun and wear those marks.

Wear/use marks on guns are the equivalent to scratches on 4x4 trucks...
