There is no single way, you master the fundamentals first, I recommend a 6 o'clock hold, then you can try different holds that suit your purpose better.

With a handgun I personally use (C) at 15 yards using 3" targets. Top of the front sight level with the bull. 25 yards or more I typically use the same practice however I really get to see which ammo works best for each pistol at those distances and make adjustments.

It depends on how the gun is sighted in and if you can adjust it. It also depends on your preference. I go between 1 and 2 depending on the gun.

I was taught the 6 0-clock hold and had used it for 30years . I never even tried any other way . If it ain't broke type of thing . Last year I bought a new pistol with a 3 dot sight . This pistol has fixed sights and you put the front circle on what you want to hit kinda like a red dot and you hit it . Very cool and so much faster for follow up shots on center mass . I like it a lot not sure what I was thinking all those years . I can still shoot more precisely the old way though .

allow the existence, occurrence, or practice of (something that one does not necessarily like or agree with) without interference.

Anyone else find it sad that those who preach tolerance CAN'T allow the existence, occurrence, or practice of (something that they do not necessarily like or agree with) without interference.

I write almost everything in a jovial manner regardless of content . If that's not how you took it please try again

Me too, but been shooting that way for 55 years. Same with my newer pistols also, 3 dot, but the wheel guns I shoot the other way. PAX

Depends on the gun in regards to handguns. HKs and I also think Sigs are sighted in from the factory for the "cover hold", sight picture (c).

I like #2 especially with AR but because all my handguns are sighted #3. I made them all (ARs and handguns) #3 so that I don't have to remember which one is which.

I use C most often but B for distances where C isn't appropriate

I prefer to put dot on target with my 3 dot sights, and use a 6 o clock with target blades.

A rifle style sight is usually fine enough for center hold for me.

It's all personal preference, use what works best with your vision and brain.

Every gun will be a little different. And even if it has adjustable sights, it will be different at different ranges. Not unusual, and in keeping with many other things in life. For instance, I play Native American flute. Every one is just a little different. Depending upon the flute, a given note may be fingered differently from one to the other. And there are other subtle characteristics between the flutes. I could give other examples, but I think you get the idea.

                          I go 6 o'clock on pistols, POA/POI on rifles.

Proper sight picture to me has always meant consistent alignment more than where you hold on the target.

The POI changes at different distances, anyway. I don't understand why people are so caught up with sight picture since POI and POA only match at one distance or maybe two for higher sight-over-bore.

For speed, I feel more comfortable using the front dot. For precision, I like using the top of the front sight bisecting the target.
