    Trades.....

I'm seeing a new trend here. Example...
Your selling a firearm for a listed price. Someone contacts you regarding a possible trade. It peaks your interest so you respond. You ask if it's a straight trade...they respond yes. Then you ask for pics and now your willing to trade. ...Here's where it gets good. You get a response of " this package is worth xxx amount"... You are now asked to come out of pocket for the difference! WTF!! Are you kidding me? So it's not a straight trade as I first asked..it's a total waste of time.
Let's see how it works this way..hey I see your car is for sale. Would you be interested in trading cars? You know what, yeah, I like you car. It's different from mine, sure. Ok cool, I'll trade you my car for your the car your selling but you need to give me $6k on top to make it even....
Anyone else getting this or do I have a target on my forehead?

I would have to see your forehead to make that determination.

If someone tells you its a straight trade then comes back asking for extra cash, they are a POS and a waste of time. Some people believe in honorable qualities like keeping your word, but apparently these are old fashioned values...

The way I see it, the trade isn't done until the funds are in hand.

I always assume a trade is +/- funds either way depending on many factors like condition, added ammo, ect.

I think some people are confused about what a straight trade means. Doesn't surprise me, some people still don't know what Or Best Offer or OBO mean.

I've contacted several people in the past, some on this board offering their asking price on an item only to be told "I'm waiting to see if I get some better offers".

I'm like GTFOH at that point, don't want to deal with a moron.

Trades start with verbal agreements. If you ask straight trade? They reply yes, what does that mean to you? Sounds like a straight F'n trade to any reasonable person. To come back after you've shown willingness to trade only to ask for cash on top is bull****.
I agree with DDM4556. Don't start poking people's interest just to bait and switch. Or better yet, this sounds crazy...stick to your word. Don't start pissing people off. WTF.....

The term "trade" always implies negotiation, to me anyway. That said, If negotiated terms have been verbally agreed to, then both parties should hold up to their respective ends of the deal. The caveat to this would be if, upon inspection, any merchandise is found to be misrepresented.

Correct....if either one shows up with a turd in a mfg gun box, deal would be off.

I say that if you have the inclination to think that they might do that, you can call the deal off.

I think some people are misunderstanding... All trades are negotiable of course. But once you agree on "straight trade" the negotiating is OVER.

To then demand cash is the same as saying "I'll take it at asking price" then show up with $100 less. If you do that, you're a POS.

I agree. Ive felt the horror and pleasure of a deal on both sides. I've made poor choices but stood by them as to stand by my word. The trade offer I believe was an even trade, gun for gun. As did the other party. Why else would they agree to a STRAIGHT trade.
I'm surprised I wasn't asked to pay for both PPT also!!! Lol...
