Smith & Wesson stock not doing well?

I find this information difficult to believe. At least in California, guns from all makers are flying off the shelves, my local gun store can hardly keep anything from any manufacturer stocked. People are buying guns like they're going out of style. Maybe the rest of the country is not buying like we are, I guess? Also I guess a lot of S&W's M&P line are no longer on the roster and can't be purchased here. Still, hard to believe a gun company's stock would ever go down in this day and age.

This sounds like a hit piece to me. A quick look shows that S&W is at a historic 5 year high up from 2.52 a share in 2011.

No, it WAS at a 5 year high only a couple of weeks ago, now it's almost 25% off of that. That's the equivalent percentage of an over 4000 point drop in the Dow. I don't think it's a cause for alarm. Analysts downgraded it to a "market performer" which isn't all that bad, but it is a downgrade. Short term, the problem is that gun sales have been so frenzied that the trend can't continue forever. It's the same as if you own a store that has the biggest sale day ever. When the next year rolls around, the stock holders want you to beat that day. I think gun sales will stay very strong for years to come, but the market wants to see nothing but positive year-over-year growth, and it doesn't always happen in the real world. Might want to pick up some SWHC tomorrow morning.

Sold all my shares in S&W in Feb. They were hoping the S&W sporting good line would be a big hit but alot of people aren't happy with the products.

If Hillary gets the gun mfg relief from litigation overturned all firearm mfg will be in bad shape.

No one involved in the firearms market should be at all surprised by the performance of Smith & Wesson and Ruger stock. These stocks were bid up to the stratosphere during the boom. Naturally they had to come back down once the boom turned to bust.

As as good as sales might be for gunmakers today, they are nothing compared to what they were three years ago.

Gun stocks will rise if Shrillary is elected. So will sales.

Not surprised. It used to be a $3 stock not long ago.

The article seemed to say that the biggest problem was a lack of inventory. That means they are selling their product as soon as it's produced. But you can't sell what you don't have.
The stock had gone up so high that it's bound to come back down as people cash in their profits.

Have you looked at the price today?, up almost 3%

Sold last week with a 23% gain, Got back in again yesterday

An analyst stated that NCIS checks were down and downgraded the stock

Movement and profit taking after a downgrade are a normal cycle

Yesterday AAPL was up, today it's SWHC, NFLX and GILD.

Ruger's up as well and they pay dividends

Most of the time an analysts comments effect on a stock last about 24 hours

Hillary has her sights on the Gun Lobby, the closer it gets to election
the higher this stock is gonna go

                        It's no brainer
