shooting range

Just bought my son a Ruger 10/22 , where can I take him to shoot it , indoor or outdoor , either is ok .. not sure if ranges allow kids to shoot . He's 10 years old. I'm in Orange County . Costa Mesa.

They just opened a range in Poway. It is really nice, off Danielson. There is another range off Kearny Villa Road, near Miramar. Pala Indian Reservation is nice.

OP: most indoor ranges are OK with rifles shooting .22 LR. OnTarget is kind of close to you, but your 10 yo may be bothered by the concussion levels of shooting indoors. Try:

If you take your kid there, it will cost $40 for two hours of range time plus whatever ammo you bring.

If you're willing to make a drive up the 57, Burro is a good outdoor range.

Have any friends that are West End Gun Club members? WEGC has a smallbore / Junior range exclusively for .22 short, .22 long, and any other long gun rimfire under 1500fps. That part of the shooting facility is really quiet most of the time (even weekends).
