    Assault weapon registration

Does anyone know how I can get a copy of my registration for an assault rifle I registered back in the late 90's? I've looked through the California DOJ website to no avail.

A few years ago I just called them to get a new copy after I moved. The were very helpful.

Assault Weapons and .50 BMG Quick Links to Topics General FAQs “Other” Assault Weapons Military Assault Weapons Bullet Button Assault Weapons General FAQs What is considered an assault weapon under California law? What are AK and AR-15 series weapons? What is considered a .50 BMG rifle under California law? Can assault weapons and .50 BMG rifles still be registered? I already paid the Dealer's Record of Sale (DROS) fee and went through a DOJ record check when I purchased the firearm. Does that satisfy the registration requirement?

How can I get confirmation of my AW/.50 BMG rifle registration?

You should have received confirmation from DOJ at the time you registered the AW/.50 BMG rifle. To receive another copy of the registration confirmation, contact DOJ at (916) 227-2153.

I couldn't find my Assault Weapon Letter that had 11 listed RAWs.

Also I had moved since 1989.

I called the general number at CDOJ was transferred to 'Sandy' and she was very nice. She found me in her computer, but required me to send in an official letter requesting a fresh letter; had to provide a notorized copy of my Drivers License and signature on the letter. Mailed it off registerd mail. In 5 weeks received and new letter. Nice people to deal with. This was 4 or 5 years ago.

Made copies and keep them with each weapon.
