Which common household item could be used as gun lubricant?

I personally use M-Pro 7 to lube my guns. But hypothetically, let's say in the event that you run out of gun oil (say, SHTF), and you really needed to lube your gun up because it's too dry to function, which household item could temporarily make your gun function, without much damage to the internals? Olive oil? Canola oil? WD-40? Which would you use?

Automotive oil. Maybe WD-40 as a cleaner in a pinch, but not as a lubricant.

I would not use any kind of vegetable oils on a gun - ever.
    (That includes Frog Lube!!! )

      hypothetically, anything.

I've used WD, bearing grease, motor oil, motor oil from a dipstick, froglube. And that's NOT a shtf scenario.

in a SHTF situation, there will be a lot of cars full of motor oil to lube up your guns.

try to find the nicer looking ones (doesn't mean luxury, just overall condition) which should indicate that the owner has kept to a oil change interval and you might score fresher oil than black sludge that would probably gum up your gun.

I'm still baffled that not more people use bearing grease. I have tubs of that stuff sitting around; works great on damn near everything.

Isn't Astroglide water-based? Probably not the best thing to use on metal parts.
