Netting / pattern for spray paint?

Hey Guys, I'm putting the finishing touches on my girls new rifle and she wants some color on it. For now we are going the spray paint route due to time restrictions for a class we are taking and I need some ideas of some good netting or something to place over the gun so we can give it some texture. Any suggestions on netting or something that will give it a scale look to it any other suggestions?
    Thanks

A piece of tree/bush with some small leaves on; cutting out some random shapes or holes in paper/card; you'll have a million things lying around the house to make a shape.
There are no great men. Just great challenges which ordinary men, out of necessity, are forced by circumstance to meet.

I've seen some people do some cool designs using toolbox/kitchen drawer liners.

+1, I've used big maple and mulberry leaves, small branches, etc... For different patterns, a loose mesh burlap sack? Short length of barbed wire? The wife's fishnets?! Post pics!

Cut some broom bristles and use those held vertically against the stock.

I've done this w an ar and my bolt action and it came out great but she wants something different , she liked the scales type look that came from some kind of plastic netting

Use an old pair of her fishnets. I found satisfactory results using this method.

I would hit up dollar store for laundry mesh stuff.
'Cuz big holes are easier to see.

Should be good for her to give you a black eye over !

Damn! That metal flake paint. What size flake did you use in this? It reminds me of an old school bass boat like a Sanger V drive.
