    Barrel Length Measurement

How is a barrel supposed to be measured on an AR15 style barrel?

Does it include the chamber or start at the lands?
Does it include the barrel extension since it is pinned?
Does it include a flash hider provided it is pinned or does it have to be welded?

Generally you want to measure a rifle's barrel length from the breechface to the muzzle.

Just read that you have to completely weld it. Pin and weld method no longer accepted.

          Here is the thread.
I need to pin my FH until I get my stamp. Is there any certain way or material to use? I was gonna use a roll pin in 2 spots and cut it off flush. Would this be NFA compliant?

The thread you linked is like 7 years old, and just as wrong today, as it was then.

            Pin and weld is fine.

I'm curious who does the measurement check? I've never been checked or asked in the 50 years I've been around firearms about how long a firearm barrel is.

                Law enforcement.

They would only check, if the firearm is used in a crime or if it gets called into question during an investigation.

                  Per ATF

Barrels are measured by inserting a dowel rod into the barrel until the rod stops against the bolt or breech-face. The rod is then marked at the furthermost end of the barrel or permanently attached muzzle device, withdrawn from the barrel, and measured. 2.1.4 Weapon made from a rifle.
