    Op,

The Limbsaver is awesome but might not be enough for your condition. Go to a local motorcycle shop and look at some of the shoulder/elbow/knee pads. The technology in that sector of padding is amazing. My Father-In-Law had a pace maker put in and needed some really good padding for protection. He placed a knee pad into where he places his stock and it worked perfectly. The padding is thinner than you would expect and is not cumbersome at all.
Knives don't stab people, cars don't drive drunk, eating utensils don't make you fat and pencils don't mis-spell words.

      OP
I had detached retina/surgery in my dominant eye (front sights/reticles do not exist) and that made rifle/shotgun shooting a re-learning experience.
Pistols not so bad but long guns are very steep learning curve at first. I learned to shoot left handed. Still difficult but I suggest you try it. It will force you to focus much more than you do now but the results should alleviate your shoulder pain.
It may give your shoulder a fighting chance to heal while you learn to be an ambi-shooter.
I'm sorry for your troubles. Good luck.
