That sounds more like a rifle problem than a cartridge issue.

I have hunted with 30-06 for quite a time and usu .243 for the speed goats/mulies, but have always had my eye on the 6.5creed or swiss but never made the move - same for .270 and 7mag.

Nonetheless, I am envious of you living in some prime territory. I hunt with a friend out of Helena where he lives and have a place in SW WY (which I spend far too little time in - work in healthcare and just not enough hospitals for me to find work in my specialty), but if I could find my way to Missoula I would do so in a minute (Lolo pass, amazing fishing hunting, college girls, and Big Sky just up north a bit and well ... Friendly speed limits haha!

My first 6.5 CM was hunted with I stopped using it and switched to another rifle because of a malfunction problem. The replacement is a far better and more dependable rifle. Long story here so I wont bore anyone with it.

were you running it in bolt gun, or LR308?
