Buying a gun online counts toward 1 in 30 days?

    As title
Purchase a new on-roster handgun from an out of state seller.
Seller ships handgun to a California FFL.
The FFL then transfers to me and charges me CA sales tax and Dros.
Does this transaction count as a handgun sale in 30 days or just a transfer from the FFL?

Is it gonna be any different if the handgun is used?

It's not a PPT (by definition) - so yes. 1 in 30. Full FFL sale.

      Nope.

Unless it's a FTF PPT, or a C&R and you have an 03+COE, 1-in-30 applies, even intrafamilial from out of state.

So I can't buy it out of state and let it sit at my FFL until my 30 is up and then start my DROS??

I thought the 30 was from start of DROS to the next start of DROS?

Yes, it is 30 from start of DROS to start of DROS.
If you've just picked up a gun, you have another 20 days (or less) to begin DROS on another one.

Depending on your relationship with your FFL, yes, you can have it shipped early, or multiple guns, and have the FFL hold it or them.
If you don't have a GOOD relationship with them, expect a storage charge, and definitely work out the details first.

No, you can not buy a gun out of state and bring it to your FFL for DROS (your last comment made me think you might be thinking that).
