I'd recommend http://aegisacademy.com though they are in Pala, but well worth the drive.

You might also try http://artifexcc.com, the owner, Ben, is a former British SAS officer and is very knowledgable. They are in OC.

been shooting since I was about 15, but never took any courses or classes. probably should start with a solid safety course just to make sure I know everything I should know that I am not aware I don't know. but after that courses on situational or tactical courses and home defense.

+1 for FTA. You will learn what you did not know what you did not know.

I am sure this hold true with many training classes.

Well, I'm in a similar boat. As explained in another thread of mine:

I just blew through 200-rounds of ammo in 2-hrs without getting any feedback from the instructor on how I'm doing, and what are points for improvement. Albeit, there were just 2 instructors across 20-students... Or could that particular class day be just a fluke?

But, I'm all for paying a slightly higher cost for learning (I paid $50 for the class) rather than going through rounds of ammo ($$) for nothing.

You felt that the Falcon Op class was as good as the classes you took with Haley and Costa?

I took a total of 4 classes with Falcon Ops , one hosted Chris Costa the lead instructor at Falcon Anson Beck "Hollywood" is good friends with Chris they learn from one another and teach together at times. They both bring good value to instructing a class. The only reason I can't say its the same is I never took a $800 consecutive 3 day course from Costa Ludus to really compare but for $175 local course I think Falcon is a deal and well worth it. I took a few FTATV no running and gunning and a whole lot of macho man instructors that really act better then the rest. Frank Proctor was awesome I'd take him again if he come to SoCal. One day when I can afford to I'll definitely love to do a Haley or Costa class until then, I'll keep practicing what I've learned.

Seriously Hopetownbrown lol ,
I took a Chris Costa 1 day course hosted by Falcon ops. I was taught by both instructors CHRIS COSTA 82.3% and Anson Beck 17.7% of the time sir, does this kinda qualify for a valid instructor course evaluatuation?
