    hell yes!!!

He lives up north and bought the truck across the border from Oregon for 200 bucks, drove it back, put a 10 inch lift kit he got there for another 200 bucks, and got himself a really-poor-man's monster truck, then he managed to score some used 37 inch swamppies for another 100 bucks with at least 5000 miles left on it. imagine that, a monster truck for 500 bucks!!! we weren't gonna jump it or nothing so it does the job.

So one day we were sitting around with our shotguns, and one thing led to another and he asked me "what would make my truck different from all the other big-arse trucks around here" to which I replied, maybe a few man made holes and dents would give it character. so the truck o' truth was born....

it was so much fun his mother came over and had a few cracks at it with her Winchester 1300. IIt was like a shotgun expo, a Winchester, a Remington and a Mossberg.

and none of us wore earmuffs. we usually do but not that day. we didn't fire THAT many rounds at his truck.....

If you lack hearing protection you can always use a spent 9mm casing.

I've really got to get around to picking up a set of electronic muffs to keep by my bed & HD gun.....
I have a set of ProEars next to my HD shotgun and pistol. I'd rather not lose my hearing over killing some dumbass invader with evil in their eyes.

I do believe that more 870's have been sold for the purpose of home defense than any other firearm. I was told that by an firearms training instructor.

I love your avatar tankerman !

I prefer a game type shotgun with a game load.. not buckshot. Even #8 at close range will rip a guy in half. And at about 35- 40 yards really peters out.

I find that under stressful conditions you don't hear much of that shot.

The very first time I smoked something that was alive I didn't hear the rifle go off. My ears never rang. Never shot a man and hope I never have to. Heres to keeping all a theory.

I agree, if you can find #9 go for it, the intruder will probably break off an attack when he no longer has any skin attached to his body. No issues with penetrating walls and hurting others either.

I think I had bagged about 10 california deer before I started wearing hearing protection, I started hunting in the 70's.

Bad advice, IMO. Even with stereo electronic ear protection, you lose directional acuity.

As for a shotgun load, Federal Tactical Low-Recoil 00 buck, or some 2 3/4 game load... 7 or 8 shot is fine.

All it takes is practice. I can close my eyes and point out the sound of even light movement quite well.
