If Assembly Bills 1663 &1664 pass... answered.

What will happen to those of us who own AR-15s and other "assault rifles" (as they like to call them)?

Will we be forced to either sell them out of state or surrender them? Is there any possibility of our guns being somehow grandfathered in (wishful thinking I know...)?

Several other members have already mentioned these bills. But for anyone who was absent from school those days, here's a summary courtesy of the NRA-ILA email I received today.

Have you actually read either of those bills? If not you probably should. Either way both 1663/1664 would reopen the assault weapon registration.

And if they create another AW category talk about a nightmare (if not impossible) for LE, CA record keeping isn't the best.

Why a NEW category? Wouldn't the new AW's, created by these bills, just get lumped into the same registry as those that already exist from pre-1990?

I would put money on them not passing as they are written now, if at all.

If they do pass, those of us who have already acquired a good collection will probably have to do what we did in the '90s and register them. If history is any guide, that will just make the value of the guns go up.

These Bills are stupid and nonsensical, but I personally am not too worried about them yet. I am looking for more interesting guns to buy, though - anybody who lived through the previous stupid law changes knows that buying now is a good move. Just look at all the post-SSE sorrow that we hear about on a daily basis.
