    Mag pouch preference

I hope this is not a silly question, but I've recently discovered I really like my Uncle Mike's Tactical Kydex Single Stack Double Magazine Case, Belt Model mag pouch. But before I used it, I decided I wanted to go with a Bianchi closed cover style mag pouch for better security and for keeping them clear of any potential damage (since neither mags nor ammo are cheap!). But I'm wondering how much I'll like them if I have to break through to reload in an emergency, so I wanted to get opinions from people that use belt-carry mag pouches about what you all prefer, and why.

Are you talking about for daily carry, concealed, under what circumstances?

Great question... Which would you say is better suited for each? I'm thinking specifically of home carry.

I prefer TACOs, use them for both rifles and pistols.

I have a few of these and love them. http://www.kytexgear.com/

Only downside is they're not universal and it can get a bit pricey.

I prefer regular kydex open top for most applications. Fits most of my guns and tension can m be adjusted for a specific mag, faster to draw than nylon pouches ime.

It's funny how something as simple as a mag pouch can really start to add up cost wise. Think about how many different guns you have, how many calibers, different belts from CCW belts to range belts to battle belts, etc., and you can spend a small fortune just trying to cover all that.

Blade Tech makes a mag mounting platform called Tek Lok, that can be put on and off belts without having to undo the belt and it can be adjusted to fit a variety of widths. The mags can also be canted in just any position to accommodate your preference. They're not cheap though.

There are other mag pouches out there that offer similar flexibility. So give some thought to all the ways you need to use the pouch and then try to figure out the most cost effective solution for all of it.

For competative pistol shooting I prefered open top mag pouches.

For combat-type applications for pistol and rifle I would prefer closed top to more fully protect the mags and ammo.
