I know the store. It's a Carter's Country store over in a strip mall in a somewhat crappy area of Houston. From the reports, they got most of what that store usually stocks. It's not that big of a store and they focus more on "hunting" type guns (bolt-action rifles, shotguns, etc..), other than a few glass counters of handguns. The only guns in there that are routinely secured are the used ones on a couple racks right around the middle of the store that have a cable through the trigger guards.

The first guys they caught were caught with stolen guns in their vehicle during a traffic stop. That led them to another couple guys and over 30 of the stolen guns that were stashed at their place. If they've swept up 30+ guns, then they've more than likely got the bulk of what was taken.

Oddly enough, Carter's was linked to Fast and Furious. They had called to report attempted purchases by suspicious buyers and were TOLD BY ATF to proceed with the sale, and then some of the ATF folks told the press that they were bad guys selling guns to gangs. The owner of the store went after ATF for that. I'd have to look back and see if he won his defamation case.
"Mr. Rat, I have a writ here that says you are to stop eating Chen Lee's cornmeal forthwith. Now, It's a rat writ, writ for a rat, and this is lawful service of same!"

News report yesterday said one guy was arrested when he tried to sell one of the stolen guns to an undercover cop.

Pretty funny - the mother crying & saying he's a good boy who "Started hanging around the wrong crowd." Hey, lady, "Birds of a feather flock together." He's not a good boy; he's a dirtbag.

You place your lookouts at all the surrounding key intersections about 4 blocks away with air-horns.

One long blast means "from north"

2 means West and so one.

Like "One if by land and two if by Sea".

Plus, you call in a bunch of nonsense on the other side of town. Call in a big DV dispute with lots of ghetto hollerin back and forth. The kicker is it takes the cops 10 minutes to finger out the actual DV parties both left 5min ago, and the couple on scene are just babbling about that, so no one gets written up.

Yeah, these guys really really should have invested in some better quality stuff sacks.

Most stores at least run a cable through the long guns at night. Gotta figure out a way to prevent the cable from nicking up or even leaving rub marks. And don't use one cable for all 100 guns. No more than 5 guns to a cable.

Is it the police are so good or the crooks so bad? Drive a legal car legally and split up the guns to sites the other guys don't have any way of knowing.
