iron sights for fast(er) shooting

I'm looking to put some night sights on my 1911 since it came with standard black on black. However, I recently saw a snippet of a video of a guy who does advanced and tactical pistol training and he stated that he had special sights on his gun that were wider apart on the back as he wasn't looking for bullseye accuracy, but rather what he wanted was faster acquisition of his sight picture for rapid fire shooting. I'm interested in trying that since, realistically speaking, a true self/home defense situation calls for fast target acquisition and putting multiple shots on target in a short amount of time. Not aiming carefully fro his third button. But I can't find that video anymore and I don't know how/where to find sights like that or what I'd call them when googling. Any info is appreciated.

For self defense, your sights aren't very important. But what I have found in completion shooting is that a narrow front sight and small notch in the rear is just as fast AND more accurate than the wide front and wide rear notch you find on most night sights.

I know when I switched from the standard Glock sights to the fiber optic/tritium sights both accuracy and speed improved. I have been using fiber optic sights on my 22 rimfires and a S&W M&P VTAC and loved them, but the difference it made on the Glock was really impressive.
