    80% Polymer lowers 'Lifespan'

I am looking in to buying an 80% polymer lower (AR15 & Pistol Frame) and can't find a general consensus of an expected lifespan. I know each manufacturer is different, how you treat it, and so on. But I don't know if they are known to fail after a few 1,000 rounds, 10,000's of rounds, or well cared for good ones I could hand to my kids and their kids and still be working.

I am just looking for a general basis 80% polymer lifespan?

Get a metal one. With 80% being cheap nowadays and jigs like the EasyJig I don't see a real benefit to polymer ones

There comes a point where you are just saving a bit too much money for your own good. If your AR is for home defense it should be as good as you can possibly afford. Why take the chance? Would you choose a bargain parachute?

I am not using it for home defense, I have plenty of other weapons for that. I'm not buying it for a cost savings measure, I'm not hurting that bad. I am merely interested in it and trying to do my homework. The question is there as a reference... if 95% of the votes are 'Yes' then that is pretty telling the polymer is trustworthy and reliable. however if 95% say 'no' then that tells me that it not proven enough, at least not yet, to be trust worthy.

I understand how you reached that conclusion but sorry I have to kindly tell you it's inaccurate.

I bet if Glock jumped into the lower receiver maarket, that would make some waves. God help us if they designed 9mm lower receiver that accepted their magazines.

              I'd be all over that...

Of course they'll never do it though...
Better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.

Yeah that would also ruffle a few feathers in the gun community. I would defiantly be intrigued. I have no problems with polymer 'production' gun as they have been proven for year and I would assume in labs, but the 80% polymers just leave me hesitant. The good thing is I have not heard anyone 'yet' speak to a failure on this thread so that is good

My mistake, sir. I made an assumption that was unfounded.

Yeah I have been looking at those and polymer80.com. I do like the tnarmco.com's as they have the brass threads but others have complained about the fit and finish (not a huge deal to me). The polymer80.com have been getting good reviews also and good fit and finish comments. Thank for the reply!
