Places to shoot near Ft. Bragg?

Heading up to the coast for a few days next month. Any place to shoot the AR's and handguns? Outdoor or Indoor range? Open land?

Here ya go - see last post. Info is 5 years out of date so you might be SOL if the area suggested has been closed down.

Just searched "Caspar Little Lake Rd" with Google Earth and found the Quarry area mentioned. Looks like a good amount of typical debris is there left by irresponsible shooters so the odds are that you may be able to still shoot there if said irresponsible shooters haven't caused it to be closed down with their mess.

Thanks WartHog... I think I saw that thread, but since it was so old, I figured I'd ask again. Thanks for the tip on Google Earth. Wouldn't have thought of that, and I think those images are updated probably at least every 24months or so, so it should be fairly recent. I'll call the local Sheriffs office, and see what they say.

Upon further investigation, there may possibly be a Gravel Pit area at Jackson State Demonstration Forest you might be able to shoot at. The website for JSDF doesn't state anything about Target/Recreational Shooting being allowed so be best to call them and ask @ 707-964-5674.

Any logging road a 4 wheel drive can run? Go up into the hills and you are alone.

That's not true of the Coastal area around Fort Bragg. Much private land and no National Forest lands. The area off Little Lake Road that is in question as a shooting area is actually located inside the boundry of JSDF so the State either allows shooting there or doesn't care if people do or not.
