Staked or not staked gas key

I noticed my BCG's gas key isnt staked on my Ruger 556 OR the castle nut. I know it's easy to stake, but I'm curious if not having it staked is really that bad.

Supposedly it could affect reliability and longevity. I haven't had this problem personally so I only speak from what I read.

I prefer mine staked. Gas key & Castlenut in that order.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

Castle nut should be staked, but if it loosens you'll probably notice and re-tighten. Gas key REALLY should be staked as well, if it loosens you'll have major malfunctions. Stake both

Cool so, 56 INCH pounds for gas key screws and 40 FOOT POUNDS for castle nut right?

Have you asked Ruger about this?

                          Ruger is a piston gun?

The 'big boys' stake theirs because it is part of the contract, not necessarily because it does anything beneficial.

I'm not against staking, but I think people make too much of a big deal out of it. Your brake calipers aren't staked, your head bolts aren't staked, your life depends on nuts and bolts that are properly torqued and/or glued down without any staking and no one complains about that.
