This must've been a pretty loud "kaboom"

Upper receiver was split in half.

Not me. Saw this on Reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/guns/commen...o_worry_about/

I'm really kinda still in shock from the whole experience, I was shooting a couple hundred rounds of steel cased Wolf (bad I know) and then bam. Cut up my shoulder, and the rifle is a complete loss, but I'm just glad I didn't die...

Did it fire out of battery? I have seen some 7.62x39 and 6.5 Grendel rifles fire out of battery and blow out the magazine and break mag catches etc.

Looks like the bolt's locked up. Can't really see it but is it split?

Dayum that must have been a shorts changer for sure...

Leaning towards bolt was locked closed and the pressure of firing the round did that?
                Looks intense.
                No damage to any bystanders?
And did the projectile exit the barrel?
                All this and more...

Squib? It blew the gas key off. I'm wondering if he had a bullet lodged in front of the gas port.

Not too many answers in the original thread. No mention of injuries to bystanders. The shooter himself only received minor cuts on his shoulder. He has no idea if the projectile exited the barrel or not.

                      There are more pics tho.

Another person in the thread posted and said the below happened when he accidentally tried to shoot 300 BLK out of a 5.56 barrel.

That is the EXACT reason I only use Pmags for 5.56, Troy mags for 300BLK, and Brownells mags for 6mm X45.
