I will be moving to Placerville and looking different gun ranges to shoot at.
What is the read on El Dorado Gun Club? Their website does not give much info.
If there are better choices in the area, would like to know that to.

Their hours suck and the range isn't that great at all. I just drive out to Sacramento Valley Shooting Center.

First, welcome to the neighborhood.

I’ve been shooting at the EDRGC for years. They are not as good as they were in the old days, but I think that had to do with the people, board members, who ran it. In the past it seemed as if they were more interested in the trap range than the pistol and rifle range.

It has been about 2 years that I last shot there, but went there about a month ago. The range master for the pistol area was very nice and a good guy. I used to go at least 2 days a month.

Yes their hours suck, but they have a calendar on the web. The range fees are $10 for non-members and I think $5 for members. That’s usually for a 4-5 hour range time.

As for their web site, they do not keep it up like it used to be. They used to publish a monthly newsletter that you could access through their site, but they stopped a few years ago.

If you don’t have your CCW, the Sheriff is a shall issue type of guy.

It's not terrible but jday is right. It's not a full time operational facility. The 100 yard rifle is just that and the pistol range is...well a pistol range. Nothen special but it is local and if you don't want to hit up the mountain to shoot you can go there. I only ever seem to go there to sight in something new if I don't have time to shoot for half a day..... I will say this though I work in Rancho Cordova and I will hit up the rod and gun club even with its ****ty hours over going to the Cordova range.....that place blows.
Sac valley is a great facility and worth every penny to be a member.

Sac Valley is the place to go
