Changing handgun caliber - Need registration?

Hopefully someone can help with this discussion:

I have an old 1911 frame registered for 45acp. I am thinking of building a 9mm upper using the old frame. Is there a way to update DOJ that the old serial number is now chambered in 9mm? Is this even necessary to update DOJ?

    Any advice would be great.

    Thank you.

No requirement to tell DOJ, ATF, local sheriff, Obama, or your grandmother.

        Thanks!

I couldn't find any rules or regs on DOJ website so I figured as much. The only thing I can think of that DOJ might make me do is complete the Firearm Ownership Record (BOF form 4542A) to update them and give them a $19 fee.

I had to use this form before to register a gun my deceased uncle left to me.

Not needed for a simple caliber change.
Many people buy .40 cal Glocks and XDs and run them on a whim at 9, 40, or 357sig
