    Second Form of Residency

So I just moved to Ventura County a couple days ago and am still waiting for my updated license, ID and vehicle registration. I plan on selling a rifle of mine and was wondering if I could use letters from Edison Electric and/or SoCalGas saying I am registered with them (not a bill) as a second proof of residency.

Would this be possible or do I need an actual bill? Could I show the FFL my Edison account online to show I am at the address I say I am?

Do you need a second proof of residency as a seller?

      Bill, not letter.

      State says
13 What documentation is acceptable proof of residency for handgun purchasers?

Utility bill from within the past three months that bears on its face the individual's name and either of the following:
The individual's current residential address as declared on the DROS form; or
The individual's residential address as it appears on his or her California Driver License or California Identification Card, or change of address attachment thereto.

"Utility bill" means a statement of charges for providing service to the individual's residence by either a physical connection (i.e., hard wired Internet, telephone connection or cable connection, or a water or gas pipeline connection) or a telemetric connection (i.e., satellite television or radio broadcast service) to a non-mobile, fixed antenna reception device.

[ and other things - see the link to the state FAQ ]
(And, a nit - for CA law it is not a 'second' form of proof of residency.

A handgun buyer needs evidence of age and identity, and only 3 things qualify: CA Driver License, CA ID card, military ID + orders to CA.

AND a handgun buyer needs a second document to prove residency.)

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Check with the FFL prior to the event... what is "required" and what the FFL accepts from the seller... are not always a 100% match

Or go to the DMV, update your address and spend $5 for the official print out...
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I've sold a couple of guns and never needed second for of Id the only time I needed second form of Id was when I was buying a gun. Check with the FFL they may have different policies.
