    Polymer Glock or 1911/2011 Build?? - 80%

Came across a gunsamerica article showing Polymer80's new 80% glock lower jig kit. It will take gen 3 glock slides and parts. Can be 9mm, 40, 357. Be much cheaper building one of those than a 1911.

Anyone have news or experience with the polymer80 glock 80% kits?

The tools and jigs for a 1911/2011 would be about $300 and 80% frame and parts would be about $900.

Which route would you go and why?

Debating myself. Some fun glock slides available and doesn't require milling of the slides like a 1911/2011.

I just finished reading up to page 5 in another thread on this. It was announced back in November and the thread pretty much states that it's illegal in CA unless you can manufacture it as a single shot break or bolt action.

Interesting. The info is not clear. I cannot find info regarding the difference between 1911 80% and these 80% glock frames. There might not be any difference, it's too confusing to figure out.

Could we get clarification on the legality if you built it (outside of California) when you were a resident of another state. Could you simply register the finished SPECTER/GLOCK as a personally imported handgun when coming into CA- assuming you marked it in accordance with ATF marking requirements?

I just did a 2011 build, I am in it about 2K in parts, but then again a decent 2011 is 2500-3K anyway soooo

If your just building to build and budget is not a huge concern I would build a 2011. If your buiding to learn I would build a 1911.

I am probably going to order a glock 80% here shortly but unti then I have no opinion on it.
