My budget lightweight ar is almost complete!

My goal was to make a reliable, lightweight, 300blk ar that could reliably feed subsonic rounds that don't hurt your hears and be inexpensive.

So far the rifle weighs 5lbs 3.4 oz unloaded

Please note that these are the prices that I found, your finds may vary

    Parts list and cost:

viper foregrip (delta ring kit included): $32

    acc 200 blk barrel: $150

Aim surplus NiB Light weight bcg: $120

    adjustable gas block: $45

    Stainless gas tube: $8

Spikes upper: $50 going to be swapped out with a $57slick slide soon though!
That will shave off 1.8 oz

    Kineti-Tech Muzzle Brake: $60

3d printed featureless grip: about $0.50 in plastic

    polymer lower: $35

    Bcm gunfighter: $20

    standard lpk: $42

minimalist stock and buffer tube kit: $50

    Total cost: about $612.50

Not too bad for a specialized gun IMO

So far have 300 rounds through it with the poly upper, no problems at all and shoots great!

Things I could do to shave weight:

Drill silly holes in the grip fin -1/10th oz?

Hollow out shell deflector -1/15th oz?

Replace viper forearm and delta ring kit and barrel nut with a free floating carbon fiber tube -4oz?

Take off the muzzle brake -3oz?

Honestly the shell deflector mod may be worth it but the others don't seem worth the cost

Just took it to the range with some experimental ammo, 110 grain reloads. It didn't have enough inertia for it to fully cycle.

It loves the 155 grains though I can turn down the gas to about 5-10% and they function great
