Hexmags falling out

I recently purchased 4 hexmags at the gun show for my colt le6920. Yesterday when using them, they would fall out after 4-5 rounds. They lock in nice and snug but after a few rounds they seem to release themselves and just drop out. It happens on all the mags every single time. Anyone else experiencing this with hexmags?

Sounds like the magazine release is not installed far enough.

Also be sure the mag catch spring is installed correctly, is the correct spring, and isn't weak. The spring for mag lock are different than the springs for free states. They also go in differently, and they are usually tensioned with the lock nut. Be sure the mag lock nut is installed deep enough to draw the mag catch in all the way and also give the spring some tension. It should be tightened so the mag catch just clears the mag well when looking inside and depressing the mag lock button, but no more.

Thanks guys! I looked at the screw inside the bullet button and the nut was kinda far out. I tightened it and well see if that resolves it.

I have tightened it but its kind of hard to tighten it to the point where it just clears the magwell when depressed. Any ideas on a tool around the house that will work?

I'm not sure what kind of mag lock you are using, but you should use some blue loctite or there is a good chance the nut is just going to back off again.

Also if your mag catch goes just a little farther that is OK.

I haven't used the Hexmags yet, but this is a common issue with 30-rnd. Pmags in the M4. It happened to me almost daily during my last deployment to Afghanistan until I gave up and just went back to metal mags.

Are your mags factory 10-rnd. mags or are they 10/30 blocked mags?

The only solution I've seen that works is to load the mags two rounds short...again, this is with Magpul Pmags, so I'm not sure if the issue is the same with the Hexmags.

I've had that issue with one of my Hexmags. I hear that they will replace them with a fixed version if you contact them.

Might want to consider some blue Loctite. I have a lower I haven't used blue Loctite on the BB and the nut is constantly trying to back out. I basically have to tighten it again every range trip.

I'd loctite it. If it backs out you win an instant felony.
