My father handed down some rifles to me and I plan on selling one of them. As far as I know, they aren't registered and were bought sometime in the 80's. The rifle it's self is CA legal and what not. I'm assuming it's ok to sell the rifle, just as long as it's not stolen, correct? Even though there's no trace of the rifle, I won't encounter any problems?

When the FFL does the paperwork to transfer it, it will then be in the system. Pretty straight forward and nothing to worry aboutComment

Most long guns purchased in CA prior to 1-1-2014 are not registered nor are they required to be registered until they are legally transferred. So, you sell them the same way that you would sell any other firearms in CA.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor
