With that requirement, I'd suggest an ankle holster. It's expensive, but the Smith 340 scandium is an absolutely wonderful gun. Weighs nothing and compact. The Seecamp is good in a tiny belt holster under a cumberbun while wearing a tux. Or even in a pocket holster in the shirt pocket under the vest. Very discreet.

I have an NAA mini .22 mag/LR with the folding grip. I would think the folding grip makes a big difference in ability to shoot.

.25s feed better than .22lrs.

As far as distance goes, I won't trust a NAA or O/U derriger past about 3 yards. At 25 feet, I can consistantly shoot 6" groups with my 950 in .25acp or mt 21As in .22lr. I like NAAs (I have 3 and a couple of derringers, too) but, they have a much shorter distance between the sights and grips that are harder to keep control of. If you plan on getting a carry gun, think a little bigger and get a KARH or even a sub-compact 1911. Then, you don't have to worry so much about knock down power.

The advantages of the 25acp over .22lr is that its a round designed for a pistol, its rimless, and is center-fire.

If you need a very very tiny gun, than a NAA is probably the choice. After that you really should move up to a Kel-tec/Ruger LCP or preferably a Kahr PM9 for the best power/conceability ratio.

In defense of the .25ACP, I saw a real-life cop show the other day. A Coroner was examining a dead gangbanger. Young male, 6 foot tall, well developed. He was shot in the middle back, just to the left of the spine, at a slightly downwards angle. The bullet missed the ribs in his back, went all the way through him, hit the 3rd rib up on the left front, did not exit the front, it bounced back off the rib angling up and in about 6 inches, ending in the lung. Clothing was just a t-shirt. One shot stop / kill. Be real carefull with those "mouse" guns!

Are there any actual documented cases of a .25 bouncing around the chest cavity? I thought this was pure myth- there just isn't enough energy to do it, and bones don't make for effective spring boards (should crack/break before giving enough power for an effective 'bounce'.)

Of course, it doesn't take much energy to travel through lung tissue.

I might be mistaken, but on those tiny Beretta's the slide is alloy and the frame is steel - they start to wear fast I hear - so don't shoot it too much. Look for a Colt 1908 Vest Pocket for a really neat .25ACP, around $350 tops, if you can find it - I saw two for sale around 6 months ago.



I would rather have a .22LR/Mag wheel gun.

You're not talking about the same Ruger LCP that recently had a nation-wide recall are you?

Evidentally they tend to go off if you drop them. Too bad none of those guys from the gun magazines tried that before giving it rave reviews.

Personal choice but I carry in condition 1 or 2 and I have no reservations. In this current detail I am carrying in condition 2 with a pocket holster. Sometimes when I carry this weapon I do use condition 1 but I don't like to place too much trust in this small guns safety. When I do carry this weapon in condition 1 I use a inside the belt holster in the one o'clock position. Like I said I would try to only carry this gun when my PPK/S is not allowed by the specifics of the detail! The High Standard 22 Mag derringer really pains me to shot it, I think due to the grips. The Walther is much more comfortable to shoot, even in 380 ACP.

One thing I realized early is when carrying any handgun, but especially this small gun, is getting it into play ASAP. And like I said earlier keep it clean and practice allot. I shoot my Beretta Jetfire quite a bit and no problems so far!
